  • Here we go again...

Well, since I have been ordered by the evil Emily to update before leaving, here I am. Sleep? Who needs sleep? Yes, it is 11 o'clock now, and I leave from here at 2:30am. Perhaps I will get a few hours in, but mostly I'll be running on adrenaline and God's strength most of all. Emily, I hope that you are happy. If I am tired my first day back at school you will know why. It is all your fault. I hope that you feel guilty.

  • Summer is a beautiful thing!

Hey everyone! HOME! What a amazingly great place to be. It is really awesome being back. School went well, but I was definitely sick of it towards the end of the year. That's okay, because now I have a whole summer to recuperate! :) For those of you who don't know, I didn't end up getting into the Personal Trainer program because after looking at it closer I noticed how difficult it would be to keep up the certification during the year while I am at college. So, it's a no for now, but still a possibility for a few years from now, or for after I graduate. I did end up winning the "election" to become Atheletic Director of my collegian for this fall. I am excited about that and already got to help pick out new uniforms for soccer! That was fun! I'm looking forward to being an officer. Plus, I get to be more involved in sports that way. How cool! :) Yeah, sports are one of the ways that I stay sane at college (at least to some level). Sports and changing into basketball shorts every time I get back into the dorm from classes. You just have to learn what works for you! (The first semester, I'll admit, I survived on peanut butter M&M's, but addictions are dangerous. Hehehe!)

There is not as much action on here as last summer, that's for sure, looks like everyone has gone off to Facebook. Alison has a Facebook and I might start one up this week too, but I'll keep up my Xanga somewhat, for a while at least.

This weekend my friend from college, Jen, was here with her boyfriend. We went to Lake Michigan and it was GORGEOUS! The sun was shining, the sky was blue, the sand was warm, and the Lake was very calm. I'm going to be going back there more this summer for sure!

Last night I went and saw Shrek 3 with Ali, AJ, and Ali's friend. I wasn't too impressed. You might have a different idea, but I thought that the first two were much better (especially the first one). So, I was kind of dissapointed, but I don't think that movies have the same attraction for me as they used to. They are still fun to go to (especially if you are with someone who you can talk with the whole movie, right Em?) just not as thrilling as I used to think.

Alrighty! Lunch time. I'll talk to you guys later. It's been great seeing everyone again after so LONG! Summer is a beautiful thing. :)

  •

    Hey everybody!

Yes, I am still at college, but they just opened a coffee shop that has internet access within a mile of PCC, so I can get onto internet more often. Looks like not much activity has been going on here, but I'm sure that does not display how all of your lives are going. If you get a chance drop me a note here! I would love to hear how everyone is doing and will try to write you back. So many things have happened since Christmas Break and I won't try to write them down here, but maybe a brief update will work. :) I guess it'll have to.

Well, it's 22 days until commencement and my first year of college will be OVER! But, it'll be 34ish days until I'll actually be home because I'm visiting Mandy for a week and a half and then am going to the Nelsons for a few days. I can't wait to see everyone again. This summer is going to be great!

For a while I had been looking into transferring to Northland. (Some of you know that I had wanted to go there before.) It ended up that I would have to take an extra semester, so that's out. I was really dissapointed at first. It is hard giving up a dream, but God has really been giving me peace about coming back here. I love my major (Youth Ministry with Physical Education Emphasis)! It is the greatest ever, and I can't wait to take coaching classes. :D SPORTS ARE AMAZING. (sorry, but I had to do a plug).

Now, I'm looking into becoming a certified Personal Trainer over the summer. I would have to do some studying and take an exam over the summer, but I think that it would be an awesome thing to get into. I'm close to ordering the books that I'll need, but it won't be until next summer or possible Christmas Break that I would actually get a job as a Personal Trainer. I think that it will really pay off in the end.

Hmmm. What else. Just school. I miss basketball season, but am running for Athletic Director of my collegian. I would really enjoy doing that, but we'll see what happens tomorrow.

Other than that, I can't wait to see you all and find out how your lives have been going. I know that God has been working in amazing ways, because that's the kind of God He is! He has been blessing me so much, from the small things like taking quizzes that I'm not ready for (or 'surprise' tests) to the big things like deciding where I am going to be next fall. God is good all the time!

  • Goodbye Until May

Hello, and goodbye. This will be my last post for a while because I'm leaving for college at 2 a.m. Whichever way you want to look at it as, tonight or tomorrow is fine. Actually, I am very excited about getting back. This morning I was sad with saying goodbye to everyone, but then this afternoon I got to talk to some friends. First, Jen called me. She is already at college, so I'll get to see her just as soon as I get there! It really helped me to look forward to seeing her again, and to getting into the old routine (with BASKETBALL added!) Then I got to talk to friends from the other side of the state (aka Em and Zac). That was awesome too! A little sad to be leaving Michigan, but phone calls and emails are always great for keeping in touch. So, now I'm all packed and ready to go! I'm looking forward to spending a lot of time with my sister, Alison. She'll be moving to Florida after she graduates in May, so I'm going to take this opportunity for some great sister-to-sister time! :)

Tonight in the evening message at church our interim pastor asked the congregation, "How many of you are looking forward to God's provision in 2007." I thought for a second about how this applied to me, and I can't wait to see how God will show His faithfulness once again with another semester of school. I know that I can't survive without Him. Over the Christmas Break I've been evaluating things that I want to change about my actions and attitudes at college. There is always room for improvement. Hopefully, in God's strength, I'll really be able to grow closer to Him, and be able to be used by Him.

Oh, one prayer request on that note. I'm starting a Bible Study at college on Jonah. It's about Jonah's life and the attributes of God. I think that it'll be a great way to get to know friends better, focus our conversation on God, and stay accountable for spending time studying God's Word and applying it to my life. So, if you will just pray that everything will work out well, and that Jen and I will find some other wonderful girls to study with, that would be great! Thanks so much!

Well, I guess this is it. Goodbye for now. Feel free to leave comments if you think of something to write. I loved going through all of them at the end of last semester. It was a great 'welcome home' from you guys.  Otherwise, see you in May!

  • I've been tagged! :D

The Rules: Each player of this game starts with six (6) weird things about himself or herself. People who get tagged need to write a blog post of their own six (6) weird things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose six (6) people to be tagged and list their names.

    1.  I live in Florida half of the year
    2.  I've eaten M&M's from between someone's toes
    3.  I play video games
    4.  I slip on counters
    5.  I go on dates with my 11 year- old brother
    6.  I love the movie Emperor's New Groove

    I tag:

    1. Mandy  2. Ali         3. Amy Lou 4. Zac      5. Liz 6. Sarah

    Enjoy! Mwahaha!

I've been reading the book Don't Waste Your Life by John Piper. It's a very deep book, and sometimes is slow going, but there is some great stuff in there too. Last night I was reading and I came upon this (pg. 95): "On the far side of every risk. . .the love of God triumphs. This is teh faith that frees us to risk for the cause of God. . . It is childlike faith in the triumph of God's love - that on the other side of all our risks, for the sake of righteousness, God will still be holding us."

The way that God's power and love frees us is amazing. We don't have to worry about the future, because he holds time in His hand. He gives us the freedom to give up everything, or be willing to, knowing that He will provide for us joy unthinkable.

2 Corinthians 4:17 "This slight, momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight in glory beyond all comparison."

Well, everything has been going well. I spent last Thursday and Friday with some great friends from the other side of the state! I had so much fun! I still am laughing at all of the great memories. :) I'm going to miss everyone so much when I have to go back to college.

Some intereresting/hard decisions have come up in my life, but I'm praying that they will just drive me closer to God. I still have 2 weeks left at home, which is astounding. Almost everyone I know has already started up again. I'm lucky. More time to be with family and friends at home. I am starting to look forward to being back again, though. I know that with God's help it will be another great semester. I've been thinking about the classes I'm taking, and I think it'll be kind of fun!

I hope that you enjoy the new layout. I thought that it was about time for a change. There's a link to the place that I got this one from, if you want to use it. Oh, and the new profile picture is of my and my two sisters, Mandy and Ali, and Mandy's fiance Will. This is from Thanksgiving! Notice the sun and the short sleeves? Yes, Florida has beautiful weather.

This is a really long post. Don't hurt yourself getting through it. :) Bye.

About Me

  • I guess my screen name really tells about all you need to know. In Christ alone. These are the first three words to one of my favorite songs, but, more importantly, they describe what I'm all about. If it weren't for Jesus Christ my life would be completely pointless. But, because of what He did for me I have hope for the future, no matter what happens. There you go. My life summed up in three little words. ;)
